| Summary, etc. | Beyond providing half of the genetic information, a functionally motile and morphologically typical spermatozoon is essential for a successful fertilization and achievement of the embryo development. It is now well demonstrated that sperm alterations may cause dysfunctions in upstream embryonic development and blastulation rate even independently of paternal genome activation. Indeed, the sperm proteome, transcriptome, genome and epigenome are essential for the stages of sperm-pellucid zone recognition, fertilization, but also embryonic development up to the blastocyst stage. Thus, one can distinguish paternal effects on fertilization, early stages (J1-J2) taking place before the paternal genome activation, and finally late stages (from J3) of embryonic development. These different elements will influence the rate of zygotes, cleaved embryos and blastocysts obtention but also the embryogenesis morphokinetics and the blastocysts’ quality. |

| Summary, etc. | Au-delà de l’apport de la moitié de l’information génétique, un spermatozoïde fonctionnel, mobile et morphologiquement typique est indispensable au bon déroulement de la fécondation et du développement de l’embryon. Il est maintenant reconnu que des altérations portées par le spermatozoïde peuvent causer des dysfonctions du développement embryonnaire et de la blastulation en amont, voire indépendamment de l’activation de son génome. En effet, le protéome, le transcriptome, le génome et l’épigénome spermatiques sont indispensables aux étapes de reconnaissance spermatozoïdes-zone pellucide et de fécondation, mais également de développement embryonnaire, jusqu’au stade blastocyste. Ainsi, on peut distinguer des effets paternels à la fois sur la fécondation, sur les étapes précoces (J1-J2) du développement embryonnaire se déroulant avant l’activation du génome paternel et, enfin, sur les étapes tardives (à partir de J3) du développement embryonnaire. Ces différents éléments vont influencer les taux de formation de zygotes, d’embryons clivés et de blastocystes, mais également la cinétique embryonnaire et la qualité des blastocystes. |
