| Summary, etc. | Le corpus des gravures rupestres du Maghreb est constitué d’une multitude de représentations. L’homme, la faune sauvage ou domestique ou encore les armes sont autant d’images plus ou moins naturalistes mais qui sont, pour le moins, « lisibles ». Une part importante de ce corpus comprend des images qui ne sont pas identifiables. C’est ce que j’appelle ici signes et symboles. Cet article propose un essai d’analyse des principales images de cette catégorie. |

| Summary, etc. | The corpus of rock engravings in the Maghreb consists of a multitude of representations. Humans, wild or domesticated animals, and weaponry, are all more or less naturalistic images that are, at the very least, « readable ». A noteworthy part of this corpus includes some representations which cannot be identified at once. This is what I refer here as signs and symbols. This article is an attempt to analyze the main images in this category. |
