Summary, etc. For the past fifteen years, West European countries have engaged in institutional dynamics aiming at reforming urban institutions in order to adapt them to the evolution of urbanization, territorial competition, and the process of globalization. In this context, new institutions have been created, gathering political officials and representatives of civil society. This paper analyzes this process and evaluates its impact on urban politics.
