Summary, etc. With a few exceptions, economic theory has not dealt with the question of conflicts. A hypothesis can be formulated as to the motives for this omission, which characterizes economic analysis structurally. Unlike other central concepts such as competition, resources allocation, equilibrium, rationality, or utility, the content of the notion of conflict is difficult to grasp and problematize a priory, notably as regards related notions such as dissent or differences of interests. However, the notion of conflict has a social dimension, at least a priori. That is, a conflict is a social phenomenon whose study supposes a sociological perspective. This paper first examines the reasons behind this absence of dialogue between economic theory and the question of conflicts. Second, it presents an analysis of conflictual behaviors within spatial economic theory. The conclusion sheds light on a number of research perspectives.
