520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Previous legal and political historiography has tended to present the School of Salamanca as a group of masters who commented on the different parts of Aquinas' Summa theologiae at the University of Salamanca, giving preference in particular to the commentaries De legibus and De iustitia et iure. These are, on their own, the best-known parts of Vitoria’s legacy, together with his relectiones De indis and those he wrote on civil and ecclesiastical power. In an attempt to broaden these classical perspectives, this article presents a list of some of the works about sacramental theology written by Salamancan masters up to the beginning of the 17th century and underlines the epochal and contemporary importance of this relatively forgotten heritage of Salamancan scholasticism, underlines philosophical, juridical and political point of view. The final sections of the article focus on the writings Summa sacramentorum ecclesiae (1560) by Francisco de Vitoria and Tomás de Chaves, a text that went through at least 80 editions until the beginning of the 17th century, and Relectio de sacramentis in genere (1550) by Melchor Cano, showing the close connection between sacramental theology and juridical-political thought.
