Summary, etc. The modernisation process in which Reunion Island is involved as from the mid sixties happens at a sustained pace, in a particular historical context and a specific geographical and geopolitical environment. During three decades, this process has brought spectacular changes which are intensified by the transformation of the media scene (76-86) and the actual widespread use of numerised communications. The emergence of a public local sphere and networks result in a transformation of social link and distant sociability. It also questions about the concept of citizenship in an insular and multiethnic society.
