Sur les traces de son père abandonné, l’autrice à travers l’exploration des archives départementales a découvert non seulement une famille d’origine mais également tout le parcours d’un enfant confié à l’Assistance publique. De famille d’accueil en famille d’accueil, de trébuchement en trébuchement, l’adolescent va alors être placé sous l’autorité de l’Administration pénitentiaire. L’article retrace ce parcours, s’appuie sur des textes de lois et des travaux d’historiens afin de comprendre les motifs sociaux, économiques et politiques qui ont prévalu dans la première moitié du xxe siècle et conditionné l’existence de ces enfants « irréguliers ». Il s’agit également d’émettre des hypothèses sur les sources de cette quête et sur l’impossibilité à dire. |
