| Summary, etc. | Le « modèle républicain », « français », de la laïcité est fondamentalement hybride, traversé de tensions qui se sont exacerbées récemment. Depuis la fin du xixe siècle, le régime de laïcité organise les rapports entre l’État et les Églises en se référant à la fois aux principes politiques de respect de la liberté des citoyens et de respect de l’intérêt général. Ce compromis est aujourd’hui mis à l’épreuve, confronté aux demandes de reconnaissance des particularités individuelles et communautaires. |

| Summary, etc. | The so-called French republican “laïcité” is basically a hybrid, increasing tension-ridden model. Since the end of the 19th century, the “laïcité” regime has been ruling the relationships between the State and the Churches, referring both to the policy principals of citizens’ freedom and of generalinterest. This compromise is nowadays put into test, and has to face demands of recognition of the individual and community peculiarities. |
