Summary, etc. ‪Comprising a set of maps and written records, the Napoleonic cadastre provides reliable and homogeneous land data on an intra-urban scale for the entire French territory from the beginning of the 19th century. However, locating cadastral information is difficult, as the cadastral maps have not been updated and the morphology of urban areas evolves over time. This difficulty is also experienced with other historical sources containing old addresses (censuses, etc.). Based on the example of the old cadastre of Rouen, this article compares two automatic address location methods and evaluates their performance based on three criteria: completeness, accuracy and thematic distortion.‪
