| Summary, etc. | This paper examines the first institutional crisis experienced by the Francophonie. This crisis unfolded between 1990 and 1991 in the context of major international changes following the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet bloc. This analysis is based exclusively on French presidential archives and records from the Quai d’Orsay. It offers a critical reading of the negotiations that took place between June 1990 and January 1991 to revoke Zaire’s hosting of the Francophonie summit, following the dramatic events that took place in Lubumbashi in May 1990. |

| Summary, etc. | Cet article présente une anatomie de la première crise institutionnelle qu’a connue la Francophonie. Celle-ci prend place en 1990-1991, dans un contexte international en pleine mutation à la suite de la chute du mur de Berlin et de la dislocation du bloc soviétique. L’étude de cette première crise de la Francophonie a été menée exclusivement à partir des archives présidentielles françaises et du Quai d’Orsay. Elle propose une lecture critique des négociations qui se sont déroulées entre juin 1990 et janvier 1991 afin de retirer l’organisation du sommet de la Francophonie au Zaïre après les événements dramatiques qui se sont déroulés à Lubumbashi en mai 1990. |
