| Summary, etc. | Dans les années 1970, nombre de géographes ont renoué avec l’idée que l’espace, plus qu’une réalité objective, est d’abord un monde vécu. Pourtant, l’effort de recherche sur ce thème a marqué le pas. Soucieux de relancer le débat, l’auteur cerne les fondements psychologiques et philosophiques de cette intuition. L’espace vécu par chaque individu synthétise, autour de sa perception et dans un même élan, les inférences de sa mémoire, de son imaginaire, de ses affects et habitus. Les théories de la psychologie, de Bergson, de Bachelard et de Husserl (phénoménologie) sont mobilisées pour montrer de quelle façon la rencontre personnelle de l’espace vécu participe d’une expérience transcendantale, analysée, ici, à partir de la relation personnelle que l’auteur entretient avec la vallée d’Ossau, dans les Pyrénées occidentales. En dépouillant le rapport spatial de ses contingences habituelles, cet espace vécu dévoile des séquences d’épanouissement de soi et de bien-être propices à la sociabilité, à la citoyenneté, au sentiment d’une plus grande responsabilité environnementale. |

| Summary, etc. | In the 1970s, many geographers returned to the idea that space, more than an objective reality, is first and foremost a lived world. However, research on this theme has stagnated. With a view to reviving the debate, the author identifies the psychological and philosophical underpinnings of this intuition. The space experienced by each individual synthesizes, around his or her perception and in the same impetus, the inferences of his or her memory, imagination, affects and habitus. The theories of psychology, Bergson, Bachelard and Husserl (phenomenology) are mobilized to show how the personal encounter with lived space is part of a transcendental experience, analyzed here on the basis of the author’s personal relationship with the Ossau valley in the western Pyrenees. By stripping the spatial relationship of its usual contingencies, this lived space reveals sequences of self-fulfilment and well-being conducive to sociability, citizenship and a sense of greater environmental responsibility. |
