| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. |
| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | The most widespread sporting space on the national territory, the football pitch has not attracted the attention of sports historians. At the beginning of the 1920s, all the Vaucluse footballers – the majority of them farmers – played their sport on the natural lawn of the meadow, which was willing to lend them or rent to them from an owner. With the gradual development of the municipal stadium in the village and the spread of turf, an artificial grassy surface, natural grass is gradually disappearing from the football fields – as the farmers disappear – in the village. Our article will thus endeavor to demonstrate to what extent the gradual abandonment of the meadow as a football practice area reveals a sport in modernization that was opposed in the village between the 1920s and the 1950s. |
| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. |
