520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. As a conceptual artist and international curator, Brook Andrew dedicates his work to addressing colonial narratives from the perspective of his mixed Wiradjuri and Celtic heritage. For the last 20 years, his museum interventions re-arrange public collections and archives to create counter-narratives, sometimes described as “hidden histories”, allowing a new visibility. Based on the study of four exhibitions held in France in three venues between 2013 and 2016, this article investigates the process of deconstructing historical narratives, a theme at the heart of Andrew’s works. It places his practice within the context of non western contemporary art history in France, in relation to the politics of ethnographic objects. This reveals the existence of cross-memorial assemblages, that stretch beyond the simple opposition of coloniser/ colonised.
