520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The sociology of the “embedded” sociologist, to use journalistic terminology, fits into a narrow network of professional rules. The insider has to schematically articulate two registers, one of them scientific, and the other linked to his or her military work environment. Constructing a definition of an insider, as an antonym to the Howard Becker’s “outsider,” offers us the opportunity to show the game that is at play with and between these two registers of rules. Appearing at each stage of the research—from its conception and realization through to the presentation of its results—is the question of the military sociologist insider’s legitimacy. This leads the researcher to develop various strategies that are specific to the study of the military institution, or which should be adapted to this if they are not.
