| Summary, etc. | Dans le contexte de la numérisation profonde de notre société, les communications entre différentes entités se numérisent également, en particulier entre des êtres humains et des machines. Le média devenant numérique et jouant un rôle fondamental on parle de médiation numérique et parce qu’il faut organiser cette médiation nous parlons d’intermédiation numérique. Nous abordons donc l’impact des sciences, technologies et usages du numérique sur un constituant essentiel de l’univers et en particulier de toute vie : la communication. Nous détaillons d’abord les constituants et capacités de l’intermédiation numérique et explicitons que l’intermédiation numérique n’est pas simplement le remplacement d’un média analogique de communication par une connexion numérique, c’est l’introduction d’une entité numérique aussi sophistiquée qu’il pourra être souhaité ou imaginé entre des entités communicantes. Cela nous amène à mener une analyse d’enjeux d’éthique de l’intermédiation numérique et des plateformes d’intermédiation numérique, en suivant en particulier les travaux récemment développés par le Comité national pilote d’éthique du numérique. Nous formulons également des recommandations à destination des législateurs, des concepteurs, et des utilisateurs que nous sommes tous à titre personnel ou professionnel. |

| Summary, etc. | In the context of the profound digitalisation of our society, communications between different entities are also becoming digital, in particular between human beings and machines. As the medium becomes digital and plays a fundamental role, we talk about digital mediation, and because this mediation has to be organised, we talk about digital intermediation. We are therefore looking at the impact of digital science, technology and usage on an essential component of the universe and in particular of all life: communication. We begin by detailing the constituents and capabilities of digital intermediation and explaining that digital intermediation is not simply the replacement of an analogue communication medium by a digital connection, but the introduction of a digital entity as sophisticated as can be wished or imagined between communicating entities. This leads us to carry out an analysis of ethical issues involved in digital intermediation and digital intermediation platforms, following in particular the work recently developed by the French Comité national pilote d’éthique du numérique. We are also formulating recommendations for legislators, designers and the users that we all are in a personal or professional capacity. |
