| Summary, etc. | Metastatic gastrointestinal cancer is not an uncommon scenario, particularly in pancreatic, gastric, and colorectal cancers. In this context, there is limited data on the impact of treating the primary tumor. Oligometastatic disease is associated with longer survival compared to more advanced stages. Metastasis-directed therapies, such as stereotactic body radiotherapy, appear to be associated with improved outcomes; however, the level of evidence remains low. For most tumor sites, prospective data are very limited, and participation in ongoing clinical trials is strongly recommended. |
