| Summary, etc. | L’étude monographique menée à l’Hôpital Psychiatrique de Bingerville (Côte d’Ivoire) concernait le délai de demande de soins chez les schizophrènes avant leur hospitalisation. L’objectif général était d’améliorer le pronostic des schizophrénies. Pour atteindre cet objectif, nous avons de manière spécifique relevé les facteurs qui retardaient la mise en route du traitement des schizophrénies dans le contexte ivoirien. Il ressort de cette étude que le délai de la demande de soins doit être réduit pour l’amélioration du pronostic des schizophrénies. Cette amélioration passe par une action synergique sur la famille et la culture. La famille demeure une pièce incontournable dans la demande de soins et la prise en charge des malades schizophrènes. La culture reste un facteur se présentant comme à la fois une solution et un problème à la prise en charge et à l’insertion sociale des malades. |

| Summary, etc. | The monographic study conducted at the Psychiatric Hospital of Bingerville (Ivory Coast) concerned the time demand for care in schizophrenia prior to admission. The overall objective was to improve the prognosis of schizophrenia. To achieve this objective, we have specifically identified the factors that delayed the start of the treatment of schizophrenia in the Ivorian context. It appears from this study that the period of care demand must be reduced to improve the prognosis of schizophrenia. This improvement involves a synergistic action on the family and culture. The family remains an essential part in the demand for care and treatment of schizophrenics. Culture remains a factor posing as both a solution and a problem in the management and social inclusion of patients. |
