| Summary, etc. | A valuable perspective for studying the Czechoslovak perception of the 1956 revolution can be found in the official press, and particularly in the daily of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, Rudé právo. Communist propaganda, provided that it is correctly decoded admits an instructive view of the country’s situation. This on condition that its discourse is understood. On a first approach it is sufficient to bring into relief the topics discussed in the newspapers; how the Hungarian revolution was presented; what validating arguments were raised, etc. Methodological defenses can then be found, if we have access to other sources: other archives, anti-communist publications, “official” medias, communist and anti-communist historical accounts, propaganda, memoirs of politicians, interviews. |
