| Summary, etc. | FR – Les savoirs spécialisés des techniciens en identité judiciaire sont essentiels à leur travail d’inspection des scènes d’incident. Toutefois, la façon dont ces savoirs sont acquis et transmis demeure largement méconnue. Cette étude vise ainsi à mieux comprendre les modes de construction des savoirs spécialisés qui sont valorisés et déployés par ces acteurs. Basés sur une enquête de terrain (18 entretiens et 165 heures d’observation) auprès de 19 techniciens du Québec (Canada), les résultats suggèrent le primat perçu de l’expérience et de la socialisation professionnelle informelle sur la formation académique, ce qui ouvre la voie à une réflexion sur la formation et la professionnalisation du métier. |

| Summary, etc. | EN – ‘By doing it over and over again, you know what’s good’: A fieldwork study on how crime scene examiners construct specialized knowledge – The specialized knowledge of crime scene examiners (CSEs) is essential to the investigation of incident scenes. However, the ways in which this knowledge is acquired and transmitted remain largely unknown. This study thus aims to better understand the modes of knowledge construction that are valued and enacted by CSEs. Based on fieldwork research (18 semi-structured interviews and 165 hours of participant observation) with 19 CSEs in Quebec (Canada), the results suggest a perceived primacy of experience and informal professional socialization over the course of academic training, raising questions about the professionalisation of crime scene investigation and the role of formal education. |
