Summary, etc. | Context: Going back to work is the primary reason for stopping breastfeeding. The Haute Autorité de Santé (French National Health Authority, HAS), professionals, and mothers all agree on the need for information to help mothers prepare for going back to work. Objective: To create a pamphlet for mothers who wish to continue breastfeeding when they go back to work. Method: Following HAS protocol, group sessions and then individual interviews were conducted with “naïve” and “experienced” mothers and different health professionals. The information in the pamphlet produced was based on scientific recommendations. Results: The pamphlet focused on labor law, day-to-day organization, and the necessary contacts. Words of encouragement were also added. The pamphlet was redesigned to be objective, comprehensive, practical, and attractive. It was agreed with the participants that it would be available for free online and distributed in paper form via health professionals. Conclusion: It is essential that mothers receive support so that they can continue breastfeeding when they go back to work. The participatory development of the pamphlet has made it possible to meet their needs. |
