This moving account, delivered without commentary, split into sections, and barely edited, is a personal diary written by Jean-Paul Chanel in 2016 about his experience of being visually impaired. Just as Aimé Césaire made a case for “Négritude” (the strength of being a Black writer) and the Deaf during the “Deaf Awakening” spoke of “Surditude,” Jean-Paul Chanel introduces us to his “Cécitude”[2]. |
