Summary, etc. Over the last ten years, theses in general medicine (GM) have come to be more highly valued, thanks in particular to the creation of GM departments. At Saint-Étienne, students are asked to write their thesis in article format and to submit it to a scientific journal. This study asked post-graduate GM students what they thought about this increased value. They say that it adds value to their work. This added value is acquired in the form of personal experience or by disseminating their writing to audiences of varying sizes depending on the subject. These ideas are often acquired in the course of the thesis work. The article format is well received, as it is reassuring with its already familiar writing codes. However, the editorial constraints it imposes can sometimes be a source of difficulty. The students also highlighted the importance of the thesis supervisor . They see their supervisors as guides who will be able to accompany them through the process, thanks to their experience of the exercise.
