| Summary, etc. | Drinking water governance has emerged as a critical issue for policymakers. Climate change is contributing to the worsening of droughts in vulnerable regions, and the institutional arrangements for providing drinking water are increasingly diverse but vary in effectiveness. This paper explores the various contemporary organizational pathways in drinking water governance. We conduct a review of published economic studies of drinking water production and provision since 1961, in Western countries. Our aim is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics and implications of different organizational approaches in water management, shedding light on policy and strategic choices for sustainable and effective governance. Recommendations for future research are also considered. |

| Summary, etc. | La gouvernance de l’eau potable est devenue une question cruciale pour les décideurs politiques. Le changement climatique contribue à l’accentuation des épisodes de sécheresse dans les régions vulnérables, tandis que les dispositifs institutionnels chargés de la fourniture d’eau potable se diversifient de plus en plus, avec une efficacité variable. Cet article explore les différentes formes organisationnelles contemporaines dans la gouvernance de l’eau potable. Nous passons en revue les études économiques publiées sur la production et l’approvisionnement en eau potable depuis 1961, dans les pays occidentaux. Notre objectif est de fournir une compréhension globale des dynamiques et des implications des diverses approches organisationnelles en matière de gestion de l’eau, en mettant en lumière les choix stratégiques et politiques pour une gouvernance durable et efficace. Des recommandations pour les recherches futures sont également proposées. |
