Summary, etc. As of 1875, a series of European financial missions were sent to Egypt as a consequence of its public debt crisis. This study focuses on the work of The Commission of Inquiry on the Finances of Egypt that was established in 1878. It aims at demonstrating how this inquiry contributed to redefine the terms of the financial question, on the eve of the British occupation.
