Une naissance même non planifiée était la matérialisation de la volonté des dieux d’unir un couple. Quand le nouveau-né était un aîné de sexe masculin, il devenait l’héritier principal et le digne successeur du père. Cet enfant recevait dès lors une éducation particulière, adaptée à ses futures responsabilités. En Afrique d’aujourd’hui où se côtoient tradition et modernité, la notion de ménage existe et on parle de plus en plus de grossesse non désirée, d’enfant naturel et d’enfant non désiré. Ce statut d’enfant naturel ou d’enfant non désiré s’oppose à la psychologie de l’héritier (éducation particulière attachement au père en vue d’appendre pour le succéder), entrainant une vulnérabilité, fondement quelques fois des abus et dépendances aux substance psychoactives chez certains enfants aînés.
