| Summary, etc. |

| Summary, etc. | This work was designed to evaluate the prevalence of bulimia in a population of students of the University Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar with the BITE (Bulimic Inventory Test Edinburgh) questionnaire. This work is based on an auto-questionnaire to 33 items proposed by Henderson & Freeman (1987) to tdentify people suffering from bulimia or binge eating access symptoms. The investigation is a cross-sectional study. At the symptomatic level we found that 3.19% of subjects had a possible bulimic behavior. For this population, a clinical interview was necessary. For severity level 1,19% of subjects had a high degree of severity. For compensatory behaviors: 9.96% of subjects use only appetite suppressors ; 1.19% use occasionally vomiting. Contrary to what is advanced in Western medical literature, bulimic behavior exists in the African populations but there are very few epidemiological studies on the issue. |
