Summary, etc. The problem of dependant old person and its care is now considered as a fundamental social question in our societies. But this problem forms also the complex subject matter of work in geriatric institutions. Our contribution tries to propose an interpretative framework for the complexity of the activities in geriatric cares. We rely on the support of the clinic of activity theory (Clot, 1999) to present an intervention in a geriatric care service at hospital. Our analysis leads us to conclude that the complexity of care activity makes the development of sense impossible if job experience is not an alive support shared in nurses’ collectives.
