Summary, etc. The author of this article considers the problem of masochism through two clinical cases of patients afflicted with serious diseases. He seeks to show how transfero-countertransferential movements during the cure, without necessarily explicit interpretations, can allow some patients to mobilise their behavior, even to extricate themselves from a process of internal destructiveness and to set up, when possible, other defense mechanisms than those having a masochistic bent.
