Summary, etc. The question of the revival of citizen commitment using ICT has divided the scientific community between, on one side, the cyber-optimists and, on the other, the cyber-realists. Considering the increase in internet users and the hybridization of online practices, this article argues that we need to rethink our approach to the internet. For this reason, we propose a case study of French political bloggers. After showing why political blogs do not constitute, in our view, a favorable medium for developing political expression among “ordinary citizens,” we analyze the social demographics and the activism of these political bloggers.
