Summary, etc. Neonatal pain has only been recognized in the 1980s. Studies conducted since have consistently shown that painful stimuli increase the risk of a long-term adverse neurodevelopmental outcome for neonates and premature infants. The conference of the Neonatal Unit in Erasme Hospital (ULB-Brussels) held in February 2021 aimed to explore different aspects of pain in neonates, as well as its prevention and advances in pain management.
