Summary, etc. Although the study of psychological trauma in older patients is becoming a major field of research due to the aging population, evidence suggests that the psychological treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in this group is rare. The few studies on the subject indicate that cognitive and behavioral interventions could be effective, but the authors diverge on their prolonged effectiveness due to the cognitive, medical, and sensory disorders of older people. After a review of the recent literature, we detail the results of a longitudinal study carried out into two nursing homes: the treatment of PTSD with cognitive and behavioral therapy adapted to older people without cognitive disorders, or with mild cognitive-memory disorders, leads to a lasting disappearance of symptoms over eighteen months and improved quality of life.
