| Summary, etc. | Près de quatre ans après le début de l’offensive russe en Ukraine, l’Europe continue de chercher son leadership face à la menace grandissante de Moscou et la versatilité de Washington. Alors que le Triangle de Weimar n’a pas réussi à s’imposer comme format de concertation de l’action extérieure de l’UE, le Traité de Nancy signé le 9 mai 2025 entre Paris et Varsovie a créé un cadre favorable à l’approfondissement stratégique des relations franco-polonaises et peut contribuer à relancer également la coopération trilatérale avec l’Allemagne. Vu dans le contexte des autres bilatéralismes renforcés initiés par la France, ce traité marque le retour en force de l’intérêt français pour l’Europe centrale et orientale. La prudence reste néanmoins indiquée au regard des difficultés politiques intérieures dans chacun des trois pays du Triangle, ainsi que des différends qui pèsent tant sur les rapports franco-allemands que germano-polonais. |

| Summary, etc. | Fast vier Jahre nach Beginn der russischen Offensive in der Ukraine sucht Europa angesichts der wachsenden Bedrohung durch Moskau und der Unbeständigkeit Washingtons weiterhin nach seiner Führungsrolle. Während es dem Weimarer Dreieck nicht gelungen ist, sich als Format für die Abstimmung der Außenpolitik der EU durchzusetzen, hat der am 9. Mai 2025 zwischen Paris und Warschau unterzeichnete Vertrag von Nancy einen günstigen Rahmen für die strategische Vertiefung der französisch-polnischen Beziehungen geschaffen und kann auch zur Wiederbelebung der trilateralen Zusammenarbeit mit Deutschland beitragen. Vor dem Hintergrund anderer von Frankreich initiierter verstärkter bilateraler Beziehungen markiert dieser Vertrag die Wiederbelebung des französischen Interesses an Ostmitteleuropa. Angesichts der innenpolitischen Schwierigkeiten in jedem der drei Länder des Dreiecks sowie der Streitigkeiten, die sowohl die deutsch-französischen als auch die deutsch-polnischen Beziehungen belasten, ist jedoch weiterhin Vorsicht geboten. |

| Summary, etc. | Almost four years after the start of the Russian offensive in Ukraine, Europe continues to seek leadership in the face of the growing threat from Moscow and Washington’s volatility. While the Weimar Triangle has failed to establish itself as a forum for consultation on the EU’s external action, the Treaty of Nancy signed on 9 May 2025 between Paris and Warsaw has created a favourable framework for the strategic deepening of French-Polish relations and may also help to revive trilateral cooperation with Germany. Seen in the context of other strengthened bilateral relationships initiated by France, this treaty marks the strong return of French interest in Central and Eastern Europe. Nevertheless, caution remains warranted in view of the domestic political difficulties in each of the three countries of the Triangle, as well as the disputes that weigh heavily on both Franco-German and German-Polish relations. |
