| Summary, etc. | Cet article propose une introduction aux queer media studies, qui interrogent le rôle des technologies médiatiques dans la production et la contestation d’un ordre social hétéronormé, structuré par des hiérarchies entre les sexes et entre les sexualités, elles-mêmes imbriquées dans des rapports de classe et de racialisation. Une première partie présente l’apport de l’approche anti-essentialiste des relations de pouvoir élaborée par Michel Foucault, qui permet de sortir de la double impasse qui consiste d’un côté à valoriser toute expression publique de la sexualité comme une forme de libération et, de l’autre, à vouloir purifier la sexualité de toute relation de pouvoir. Quatre domaines de recherche sont ensuite passés en revue : l’analyse discursive des représentations médiatiques, l’approche par les affects des enquêtes en réception, les approches par la matérialité de la technique et enfin les enquêtes sur la production et la régulation des médias. La conclusion précise que la sexualité est une dimension transversale de la vie sociale, qui concerne potentiellement toutes les recherches sur les médias et les technologies de communication. |

| Summary, etc. | This article is an introduction to queer media studies, which examines the role of media technologies in the production and challenging of a heteronormative social order, structured by hierarchies of gender and sexualities, which are themselves intertwined with relations of class and racialization. The first part presents the contribution of Michel Foucault’s anti-essentialist approach to power relations, which avoids two dead ends in the politicization of media and sexualities: valuing all public expression of sexuality as a form of liberation, on the one hand, and the will to purify the domain of sexuality from all power relations, on the other. Four areas of research are reviewed: the discursive analysis of media representations; the affective approach of reception studies; the material approach of technology studies; and surveys on media production and regulation. The conclusion is that sexuality is a transversal dimension of social life, which potentially concerns all research on media and communication technologies. |
