| Summary, etc. | This article, a contribution to research on socio-technical promises and expectations, examines the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in the radiology sector. We look at the intersection of two sets of empirical data drawn from the analysis of a professional website (Thema Radiologie) and interviews with two populations (radiologists and suppliers). Five promises and their evolution are highlighted, relating to: improved diagnosis; potential time savings thanks to AI; the assistance provided by AI; increased performance of radiology equipment; and the emergence of new ecosystems, drivers of value. An interweaving between these promises emerges, as well as their evolution towards greater precision, via a process of ‘professionalization’ as they tend to move closer to radiologists’ concerns. Reflexiveness on the part of practitioners (both individually and collectively) and of those involved in the supply side is thus evidenced, with readjustments (on the supply side), and rejected promises, anticipation of perverse effects, or deduction of hopes (on the part of radiologists). |

| Summary, etc. | Cet article contribue aux recherches sur les promesses sociotechniques et les expectations, en examinant l’essor de l’intelligence artificielle (IA) dans le secteur de la radiologie. Nous tirons parti du croisement de deux ensembles de matériaux empiriques, avec le dépouillement d’un site web professionnel (Thema Radiologie) et des entretiens réalisés auprès de deux populations (des radiologues et des offreurs). Cinq promesses et leurs évolutions sont mises en évidence : elles ont trait à l’amélioration du diagnostic, au gain de temps potentiel grâce à l’IA et à l’aide prodiguée, ainsi qu’à une performance accrue des équipements radiologiques et à l’émergence de nouveaux écosystèmes, vecteurs de valeur. L’espace des promesses identifié laisse apparaître de fortes imbrications. Une évolution des promesses vers plus de précision est également de mise, via un processus de « professionnalisation » : les promesses tendent à se rapprocher des préoccupations des radiologues. Un travail réflexif du côté des praticiens (pris individuellement ainsi que collectivement) et des acteurs de l’offre est ainsi patent, avec des réajustements (du côté des offreurs), des rejets de promesses, des anticipations d’effets pervers ou la déduction d’espoirs (chez les radiologues). |
