| Summary, etc. | Le Dahiratoul Moustarchidina Wal Moustarchidaty et le Mouvement Mondial pour l’Unicité de Dieu sont deux mouvements islamiques sénégalais volontairement implantés en ville pour se démarquer au sein d’un champ religieux très compétitif. Néo-confrériques, inspirés par un islam réformiste, ils s’adressent exclusivement à un public de jeunes auxquels ils offrent de nouveaux lieux de sociabilités dans un environnement urbain décrié. Ils sont des communautés fermées qui cherchent pourtant à s’imposer d’une manière ostentatoire en ville, et ils proposent ainsi aux fidèles des repères grâce auxquels ils peuvent dorénavant croire en une nouvelle société basée sur leurs préceptes religieux. Mouvements éducatifs, leur principal objectif est la réislamisation de la société sénégalaise grâce à un enseignement de masse. Leurs modes de prosélytisme sont variés, modernes et essentiellement tournés vers des actions sociales et citoyennes. Toute-fois, ils s’impliquent de plus en plus franchement aujourd’hui dans le politique, devenant des lieux de sociabilité militante. Ils sont alors aussi des espaces de revendication pour des jeunes qui les instrumentalisent comme mode de contestation de la société tout en préférant souvent rester paradoxalement distants vis-à-vis des causes politiques de leurs leaders spirituels. |

| Summary, etc. | Islamic identities in Dakar. Comparative study of two new-brotherhood movements of young people in the cities The Dahiratoul Moustarchidina Wal Moustarchidaty and the Mouvement Mondial pour l’Unicité de Dieu are two Senegalese Islamic movements intentionally set up in cities in order to stand out in a highly competitive religious field. They are new-brotherhood type movements, inspired by a reformist Islam. They address exclusively young people, offering them new places for contact and socializing in a much-decried urban environment. They are closed communities that nevertheless ostentatiously seek to make their presence felt in cities. In this way they offer the faithful some points of reference thanks to which they can now believe in a new society based on their religious precepts. These are educative movements, with as principal objective the re-Islamization of Senegalese society by means of mass education. Their conversion methods are modern and essentially involve social and citizen-based actions. However, they are involving themselves more and more directly in politics, becoming centres of militant socialization. They are also spaces where young people can make their claims heard and instrumentalize them as a way of contesting society, while often preferring paradoxically to keep their distance from the political causes of their spiritual leaders. |
