| Summary, etc. | À l’occasion du quarantième anniversaire de la revue, ce texte propose une mise en perspective historique de la constitution, lente et émaillée de conflits théoriques multiples, du système de soin français. La revue y a joué un rôle notable en ouvrant ses colonnes à des modes d’abords diversifiés. Elle a ainsi offert aux acteurs de soin des témoignages et des angles de vue leur permettant un recul par rapport à leur propre culture professionnelle. Ses débuts ont été contemporains de l’investissement progressif du champ par des historiens, des sociologues, des épidémiologistes, des neurobiologistes et des philosophes, ce dont la revue a amplement rendu compte. Son caractère international a, de plus, permis d’avoir accès à des articles francophones venant du Canada et de Belgique, occasion d’un autre type de décentrage par rapport aux débats franco-français. Cet ensemble a favorisé la diffusion de l’idée que nous étions en présence d’un problème de type biopsychosocial impliquant, quant aux concepts employés pour en rendre compte, un minimum de réflexion épistémologique. De façon plus singulière, ce texte propose quelques réflexions à propos des rapports entre l’ancienne discipline qu’est la psychiatrie et la très récente qu’est, du moins en France, l’addictologie. |

| Summary, etc. | On the occasion of the journal’s fortieth anniversary, this text offers a historical perspective on the slow and conflict-ridden development of the French healthcare system. The journal played a significant role in this process by opening its columns to a variety of approaches. It thus provided healthcare professionals with testimonials and perspectives that allowed them to take a step back from their own professional culture. Its beginnings coincided with the gradual involvement of historians, sociologists, epidemiologists, neurobiologists, and philosophers in the field, which the journal reported on extensively. Its international character also provided access to French-language articles from Canada and Belgium, offering another opportunity to shift the focus away from purely French debates. This combination has helped to spread the idea that we are dealing with a biopsychosocial problem, which requires a minimum of epistemological reflection in terms of the concepts used to describe it. More specifically, this text offers some reflections on the relationship between the long-established discipline of psychiatry and the very recent field of addiction studies, at least in France. |
