| Summary, etc. | L’interculturel, notion complexe et souvent controversée, s’est imposé comme un champ de recherche pluridisciplinaire, notamment en sociologie, éducation, travail social et communication. En France, son émergence dans les années 1970 coïncide avec des transformations migratoires majeures, influençant fortement l’école et le travail social. La communication interculturelle, bien qu’enrichie par ces dynamiques, peine encore à s’inscrire pleinement dans le champ des sciences de l’information et de la communication. Alors que deux grandes approches dominent les recherches en interculturel (l’une culturaliste, l’autre centrée sur l’altérité), cet article propose d’explorer une voie alternative : une approche mixte. En plaçant la perception de l’altérité au cœur de l’analyse, il s’agit de montrer comment les recherches en SIC peuvent renouveler les perspectives sur l’interculturel, dans un contexte mondialisé et interconnecté où les formes de rencontre se diversifient. |

| Summary, etc. | Interculturality, a complex and often controversial concept, has established itself as a multidisciplinary field of research, particularly in sociology, education, social work and communication. In France, its emergence in the 1970s coincided with major migratory transformations, strongly influencing schools and social work. Intercultural communication, although enriched by these dynamics, is still struggling to become fully integrated into the field of information and communication sciences. While two main approaches dominate intercultural research (one culturalist, the other centred on otherness), this article concludes on an alternative path: a mixed approach. By placing the perception of otherness at the heart of the analysis, the aim is to show how communication research can renew perspectives on the intercultural, in a globalised and interconnected context where the forms of encounter are diversifying. |
