Summary, etc. This article examines the literature on cooperative games with externalities. It covers extensions of the core and the Shapley value to games in partition function form. Several non-cooperative models of coalition formation with externalities are discussed. The article also presents two standard applications of cooperative games with externalities: the provision of pure public goods and the formation of alliances of firms. In both applications, the outcomes of different solution concepts are characterized and discussed.
