| Summary, etc. | Cet article explore la perception du conseil externe par les dirigeants de PME au Cameroun, à travers une enquête qualitative menée auprès de 21 dirigeants et 8 experts-conseils. L’étude identifie des attitudes différenciées, marquées par la méfiance, l’orgueil de création, la confidentialité et le poids des réseaux informels. Le conseil externe se trouve ainsi limité par un recours post-action, et d’une contradiction entre flexibilité et inertie organisationnelle. Dans ce contexte, la confiance et la proximité relationnelle apparaissent comme des leviers essentiels pour dépasser les freins socioculturels et renforcer l’utilité du conseil dans la prévention des défaillances. |

| Summary, etc. | This article explores how SME leaders in Cameroon perceive external advice, based on a qualitative study involving 21 business owners and 8 consultants. The findings reveal divergent attitudes characterised by mistrust, pride in business advisors, concerns about confidentiality, and the influence of informal networks. External advice is often limited to post-action use and constrained by a tension between organisational flexibility and inertia. In this context, trust and relational proximity emerge as essential levers for overcoming socio-cultural barriers and enhancing the role of consulting in preventing business failures. |
