| Summary, etc. | Cet article étudie la grève de la marine marchande en Corse (décembre 1986-janvier 1987), en se focalisant sur l’opposition entre la Confédération générale du travail (CGT) et le Syndicat des travailleurs corses (STC). Durant ce conflit, pourquoi le STC refuse-t-il de se joindre à l’action plutôt que d’y participer au côté de la CGT ? À partir d’une approche qualitative essentiellement fondée sur des sources de presse, l’étude révèle que l’attitude des deux organisations pendant cette grève s’explique moins par une opposition entre solidarité nationale et solidarité ouvrière que par l’affrontement de deux visions de la solidarité ouvrière, toutes deux nationalement situées. Ce travail montre ainsi comment le nationalisme, en déterminant les limites légitimes de la solidarité, peut influer sur les stratégies déployées lors des grèves par les organisations syndicales. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper examines the merchant marine strike in Corsica (December 1986-January 1987), focusing on the opposition between the General Confederation of Labour (CGT) and the Corsican Workers’ Union (STC). During this conflict, it asks why the STC refused to join the action rather than participate alongside the CGT. Using a qualitative approach based mainly on press sources, the study reveals that the conflict between the CGT and the STC was not a matter of opposition between workers’ solidarity and national solidarity. In fact, each of the two unions defended a nationally situated conception of workers’ solidarity. This work shows how nationalism influences the strategies deployed by trade unions during strikes, while questioning the way in which they seek to articulate workers’ solidarity and national solidarity. |
