| Summary, etc. | Les théories du raisonnement collectif en théorie des jeux se fondent sur le postulat que les agents peuvent adopter diverses formes de raisonnement au-delà du seul raisonnement en termes de meilleure réponse. Ils peuvent en particulier faire des choix sur la base de préférences collectives et/ou en tant que participants à une pratique mutuellement bénéfique. Cet article s’intéresse à la manière dont on peut rendre compte de la rationalité de l’engagement à raisonner collectivement dans un problème de décision stratégique. On s’intéresse plus particulièrement au problème de rationalité qui est sous-jacent au fait de faire un choix sur la base d’un raisonnement collectif, plutôt qu’au travers d’une autre forme de raisonnement. On défend l’idée que l’adoption d’un raisonnement collectif dans certains contextes peut s’interpréter comme un engagement qui peut s’évaluer sur le plan de la rationalité du point de vue subjectif de l’agent. Cela requiert de faire une distinction entre les préférences, renvoyant aux intérêts individuels, et les valeurs, que l’on associe à l’ensemble des motivations et raisons d’agir. Cette manière d’appréhender la rationalité du raisonnement collectif a des implications normatives significatives, en particulier concernant la pertinence de l’économie du bien-être. |

| Summary, etc. | Theories of team reasoning in game theory build on the assumption that best-reply reasoning is not the only reasoning mode agents may endorse. Instead, they may make choice on the basis of team preferences and/or as participants in a mutually beneficial practice. This paper reflects on the way to account for the rationality of endorsing team reasoning in a strategic decision problem. I focus on the particular issue of the rationality of making choice on the basis of team reasoning rather than other reasoning modes. I argue that the endorsement of team reasoning in specific contexts can be interpreted as a commitment that can be rationally assessed from an agent-subjective perspective. This necessitates making a distinction between preferences, conceived as individual interests, and values, defined as broader motivations and reasons to act. I suggest that this account of the rationality of team reasoning has significant normative implications, in particular regarding the relevance of standard welfare economics. |
