| Summary, etc. | The legal framework governing bioethics in France appeared in 1994. The first laws relating to bioethics concerned respect for the human body, the gift and use of elements and products of the human body, medically assisted procreation (MAP) and prenatal diagnosis. In 2004, a new law came to revise the previous one and in 2011, the law of July 7 provided for a revision of the law by Parliament within a maximum period of 7 years, preceded by the organization of States General . The objective was to take into account advances in science and to better meet the expectations of society. In 2019, a new bill was presented by the Government and after much debate, on August 2, 2021, the new law relating to bioethics was promulgated and modified, among other things, the modalities of MAP and donation of gametes. |

| Summary, etc. | le cadre juridique qui régit la bioéthique en France a fait son apparition en 1994. Les premières lois relatives à la bioéthique portaient sur le respect du corps humain, sur le don et l’utilisation des éléments et produits du corps humain, sur l’assistance médicale à la procréation (AMP) et le diagnostic prénatal. En 2004, une nouvelle loi est venue réviser la précédente et, en 2011, la loi du 7 juillet a prévu une révision de la loi par le Parlement dans un délai maximal de sept ans, précédée de l’organisation d’états généraux. L’objectif était de prendre en compte les avancées de la science et de permettre de mieux répondre aux attentes de la société. En 2019, un nouveau projet de loi était présenté par le Gouvernement et après de nombreux débats, le 2 août 2021, la nouvelle loi relative à la bioéthique a été promulguée et a modifié, entre autres, les modalités de l’AMP et du don de gamètes. |
