| Summary, etc. |
| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | Chronic pain in children is a major public health issue, with an overall prevalence of 20.8%. Its management is based on a biopsychosocial approach. The active participation of children and adolescents in their care is necessary, and depending on the age of the child, parents will also have a role to play. The aim of therapeutic patient education is to help patients understand their illness and treatments, improve their quality of life, and make them as independent as possible in managing their condition. As chronic pain has been recognized in the latest International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) as a chronic disease, we felt it was possible to reintroduce a therapeutic patient education program for children and adolescents with chronic pain. This led to the creation of the AGLAE program (EGLAL, in English: Empower, Guide, Let Go, Adapt, Listen): “AGLAE, your therapeutic education program that gets you moving” at the pediatric chronic pain assessment and treatment center at the Bordeaux University Hospital. Based on a dozen individual and group workshops, this program aims to empower children to take charge of their own care, giving them the tools to better understand and manage their pain and treatments and to become more independent, particularly through learning non-drug techniques. In 2024, we were able to include 107 patients. In 2025, 31 of them had completed the program and the first qualitative evaluations were generally positive and encourage us to continue in this direction. |
