| Summary, etc. |

| Summary, etc. | SummaryDescribed as “exceptional”, the trials relating to the November 2015 and 14 July 2016 attacks call into question the contemporary functions of criminal justice in responding to terrorism. Drawing on a sociological analysis based on a qualitative methodology (observations and interviews), this contribution shows that, notwithstanding an exceptional procedural framework, these hearings largely remained “out of view” for the majority of citizens. By contrast, the engagement of certain civil parties helped to redefine the framework of the trial, which came to be invested with memorial, symbolic and political functions. |
