Summary, etc. | At a time when ideological and cultural pluralism is frequently used by religious groups as a pretext to introduce strategies of retreat into identity communities—which (paradoxically) can be expressed in the public sphere!—Habermas’s plea for a translation of religious semantic potential can provide an opportunity for dialog and public debate. This study explores the hypothesis that the clarifying of theoretical resources underlying Habermas’s translation proposition provides food for thought about the conditions under which believers and their communities may participate in this public reflection. Through this work, we have attempted to describe a possible channel of insertion for religious groups in the varied public sphere of complex societies. |
