Summary, etc. Recent developments in ICT and the software industry give civil and military organizations the opportunity to make decisions based on big data emerging from the Internet. Thanks to this new capability, commanders-in-chief may almost reach the ultimate fantasy of military strategy, namely overcoming the “fog of war.” However, this opportunity cannot be isolated from an increased dependency on these information systems, hence a threat, or at least a vulnerability, for modern armed forces. Strategic principles must therefore be revisited and perhaps redesigned. This paper examines three mainstream ideas in the matter of cyber-warfare.
