Summary, etc. Using a standardized approach for measuring interpersonal perceptions, data was collected regarding left-wing and right-wing American and French voters’ judgments of the leadership-related characteristics of the 2000 presidential candidates in the United States and the 2002 presidential candidates in France respectively. This descriptive study found that leftists and rightists from both countries made partisanship ratings of their main presidential candidates on values related to friendliness and task seriousness, but not on values related to dominance. In addition, perceptions of an ideal president by leftists and rightists were quite similar in France and in the United States.
