520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This research examines the relationships between family communication (open communication vs communication problems), multidimensional self-esteem (family, academic, social and physical self-esteems) and the adolescent delinquent behaviors. Two independent samples were used : the first sample included 414 boys and girls aged of 12-17 years old, the second one included 625 boys and girls aged of 11-20 years old. The statistical analyses were carried out using structural equation modelling. Results show an indirect effect of family communication on delinquent behavior through self-esteem. Moreover, we found a protection effect of family and academic self-esteem dimensions and a risk effect of social and physical self-esteem dimensions for delinquent behavior. Results are discussed in relation to previous research on adolescent delinquency, and directions for future research and interventions are suggested.
