Summary, etc. | The collapse of communism indicates the end of the process heading towards a world where the absolute has no more place. Religion, based on tradition, past history and stability tries hard to adapt itself to the consequences of this political reality: a framework constantly changing and a shift in perspectives, from collective and normative to individual approaches. The individualization of beliefs and the phenomenon of “religion à la carte” inferred by the adaptation of the religious sphere to social issues bring about changes in the place the political field gives to religion. Belief is evolving, individualized and thus rooted in reality. It would thus become “a neutral resource which could be used to manage a multiform recombining” for the political sphere. In using religion, the political field shows its own uneasiness and inability to define its meaning and these “moving and plural identities”. |
