| Summary, etc. | Sound recording technologies may always already be political and politicized – existing as part of a much wider ideological economy. This article addresses the relationship between (recorded) sound, climate change and environmental activism by drawing attention to the overlooked resources of recording cultures. It notably surveys how, since their inception, recording technologies (and in particular records) have both anticipated and reflected global processes of ecological transformation. The article also examines recent attempts at “greening” phonography by discussing the works of sound artists and activists making records with alternative materials. |

| Summary, etc. | Il se pourrait bien que les technologies d’enregistrement sonore soient toujours déjà politiques et politisées, et inscrites dans une vaste économie idéologique. Cet article s’intéresse aux rapports entre le son (enregistré), le changement climatique et le militantisme environnemental en se concentrant sur un phénomène trop longtemps ignoré : les ressources des cultures de l’enregistrement. Il souligne comment, depuis leur naissance, les technologies d’enregistrement (et en particulier les disques) ont à la fois anticipé et reflété des processus mondiaux de transformation écologique. Il examine pour cela des tentatives récentes d’« écologiser » la phonographie, à partir d’œuvres d’artistes et de militants sonores qui créent des disques avec des matériaux alternatifs. |
